The purpose of this study is to consider objective assessed physical fitness factors of referees from 6 different points of view.
In the first experiment, referees of Japan football association (JFA) participated in this study. We measured distance moved, moving speed, heart rate and distance moved outside of the diagonal system of control area. In the second experiment, international level soccer referees and referees of JFA took part in this study. We measured distance from points of fouls occurred to the location where the referee was.
There is significant difference between the Class 1 referees and the Class 2 referees of JFA in distance moved outside of the diagonal system of control area. Moreover, significant different is found between international level soccer referees and referees of JFA in distance from points of fouls occurred to the location where the referee was.
Referees were assessed though distance moved, distance from points of fouls occurred to the location where the referee was, and heart rate. Moving speed and distance moved outside of the diagonal system of control area may be new criteria to evaluate referees objectively.
